Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule
Does your work involve renovations, repairs or painting of structures built before 1978? if it does, there are New Federal guidelines that must be followed to reduce lead-based hazards. U.S. EPA requires businesses and individuals who do repair or painting work, be trained and certified by April 22, 2010.
Under the lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule, any contractor who disturbs lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities or schools, MUST be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. This requires 8 hours of classroom training. More information can be found at http://www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/toolkits.htm.
Your General Liability policy DOES NOT provide liability protection from any lead based health pollution claim. A separate policy MUST be purchased to provide this type of protection. Please call our office for more details regarding this change or to get a quote for additional coverage.
